So lovely to see you here! For those of you who haven’t met me, I’m Emily Schmader. At Connect Cleveland, I’m likely to be found managing projects, working on content for client websites, or various administrative tasks. My background is in education, but I have spent much of my working career as an administrative assistant.
My first interest in website development arose from the creation of my photography website. Keith involved me in the building process and I learned much about WordPress. Over time, my interest grew as I realized there were changes I wanted to make, but lacked the skills to do so! My desire to learn more came mostly from necessity at the time!
My involvement in web development grew slowly, first learning WordPress and Genesis, then moving back to the basics of html and code. I took some online classes, went through many tutorials, and came to truly enjoy the back end aspects of websites. As a photographer, a writer, and a creative person, my affections towards the front end of websites were always natural. I appreciate good design. I enjoy a good visual story. I want things to look good!
On a personal note, I live a delicate Catch-22: travel etched in the fibers of my being, but home being my favorite place on earth. According to Myers-Briggs, I am noted as an INFJ. I agree with this conclusion entirely. However, not one of these letters do I share with my husband, so you know what they say about opposites. I’m most often to be found cooking and reading cookbooks like novels, cover to cover. Perhaps going for a walk, enjoying my little home town, or catching a favorite TV show. I’m currently working on a special development project: the newest member of the Connect Cleveland team, due February 2016! We’re hoping he or she will enjoy web work & photography like us!
